Everything Bagel Spice Blend

So I read an article last week about a couple who made $30k last year reselling Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel spice blend.

My initial reaction was “Jesus Christ Brian works WAY too hard!” After I’d gone into his office and rubbed the fact that people can resell spices to assholes on Amazon as their primary income in his face I thought “Why doesn’t everyone just make their own like I do?”

If you’d rather buy it on Amazon from folks who basically just saved you a trip to Trader Joe’s instead of mixing together five spices with salt, then I’m not gonna call you an asshole… I’ll just let you connect the dots on your own.

Everything Bagel Spice Blend Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds (toasted)
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic (dried not fresh)
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion (dried not fresh)
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt

Directions

Step 1
Make sure to use toasted sesame seeds, because they have a more concentrated nutty flavor.

It's super easy to do. Dump them into a dry pan over medium heat and DON'T WALK AWAY.

It doesn't take long, and you don't want to over toast them. Shake around the pan until they smell nutty and have darkened in color slightly.
Step 2
Now it's just a matter of measuring all of the spices into a bowl and whisking it all together.
Step 3
Store in an airtight container, and sprinkle over anything and everything.
Step 4
These are just store-bought frozen rolls that I brushed with an egg wash and covered with the Everything Bagel Spice Blend.

So so good.
